B Science (Advanced) and B Science

No. I'm pretty sure you can do neuroscience in B Sc.

    So BIOS1011.....

Unfortunately a band 6 in HSC biology does nothing in BIOS1101. :(

    Band 6 and scaling...

No. A band 6 = a raw mark that has been aligned (reported on your HSC certificate) A scaled mark = the same raw mark that has been scaled (not reported to you, but is used for the calculation of the UAI) *Note: a raw mark is a mark you actually got in the exam (not reported to you)

    Band 6 and scaling...

Then your marks for 2u/3u Jap will not be likely to be affected by scaling. While others could get scale down. Scaling of one subject has no bearing on the others.

    source sof variation

That's an interesting question. I don't know how many marks that question is worth. But it will depend on how much you'll need to say. You really need to say that our increased knowledge is due to the understanding that variations have a genetic basis, like what you and janny have said. More...

    Medical Science ... which UNI ? =D

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was dissing AIMS, but I've seriously never heard of it. Some of the recruitment ads I've read in the past never mentioned that a science graduate must come from an AIMS-associated institute. But luckily for me, I'm not interested in working in a path lab...

    Medical Science ... which UNI ? =D

Liar! :D No one really cares about some accreditation by some unknown insititute. :p We all pretty much learn the same thing and I doubt I'll have a hard time finding a job when I get my first class hons.

    So BIOS1011.....

Not really. The job description is to both teach and do research (that's how they go from Senior lecturer to Assc. Prof to Prof - to do well in both). There are some academics who are being paid for doing teaching alone; and some of them aren't great either.

    Medical Science ... which UNI ? =D

I think most unis are like that with first year med science, to help students with no previous background on chem/maths/bio. But everyone knows first year is the worst year of uni in terms of learning and teaching. Recently UNSW introduced anatomy into first year MedSc, which was nice.

    So BIOS1011.....

I don't really understand how some lecturers never change their lecturing styles year after year. I mean can't they see 90% of the students are falling asleep during lectures or how the number of students decreases lecture by lecture? The least they can do is to see how they can change the...

    An impossible year 10 question???

Buiboi is right. Basically the sex cells have half the number of chromosomes (n) as compared with the parental cells (2n). This so called "reduction" is seen in meiosis.

    Transgenic is similar to genetically-modified.

    Advantages/disadvantages`

An advantage of working as a team is you can obtain a large amount of data in a short period of time, compared to working as an individual. Others in the group may help to point out errors. Working as a single person has an advantage of being more consistent with how each step of the...

    UAI Prediction & Random Questions

You probably need 85 across all subjects to get a 92 UAI.

    Rankings

Even though this has got nothing to do with uni, here's the answer: Yes the spacing between ranked students matters. The spacing will also be reflected in the moderated School Assessment mark on your final HSC report. The moderated school assessment mark for a 2nd ranked student can be really...

Also, it is likely that our knoweldge of possible mutagens that causes mutations is limited. Therefore, we don't know that a lot of substances can potentially cause mutations.
