    Hsc Trial Question

To follow up on xiao's excellent point, another reason is that even though mutations may have occured, a genetic change may not always reflects a phenotypic change. For example, if a mutation occurs in a gene that encodes for amylase and that mutation is in a region that is not important for the...

    HOw are the two different?

No. it is not very appropriate to separate chemical barriers as "external" and "internal". You might be a little bit confused as to what the exact definitions of chemical barriers and secretions are. Chemical barriers are a defense mechanism used by the body to non-specifically prevent the...

    So BIOS1011.....

Try to learn everything from the lecture notes. The textbook is good to help clarify complicated concepts, but not essential. There are a lot of things to remember and it's not an easy course. And I personally believe it's at least 3 times harder than BABS1201 - its first year counterpart...

It would be good if you define which one you would like to do. I think a common form of meningitis is caused by a bacterium called...

Well, the answer to your question is not simple or straightforward, so I have to answer it step by step. Also, do you actually have to perform the experiments yourself or just write about what you are doing to do without having to perform it? 1) You really need to know what are the different...

"Semi-permeable" or "selectively permeable" can both be used when describing the membrane. "Selectively permeable" is a better choice though.

    Inflammatory Response!

It's the increased blood travelling to that wounded area that increases the local temperature. Homeostasis at this point is irrelevant because the body is trying to eliminate any pathogens from invading the body. More blood (hence white blood cells) reaching that area decreases the change of the...

is 6000 words too much for the central material?

And also the markers have so many PIPs to get through. They probably don't want to see a 80 pages PIP, especially when it's the last few that they have to mark.
