    Chronicles of Narnia

I read them when I was nine.... haven't read them since so can't really comment on the writing style, I just knew I enjoyed the story. As a kid I really enjoyed them, and since I had never read the bible and was bought up in a relatively secular household I never knew they were religious! I...

    Chronicles of Narnia

I read all of these books when I was a kid, did anyone else love them? The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe was my favourite in the series, I hope the movie doesn't massacre the books. Except I only just found out they apparently have Christian overtones... I never knew because I have never...

    Where is the nearest starbucks?

Starbucks coffee is pretty horrible. They apparently use really really cheap beans.

    Question About Transfers

You possibly could, it's pretty competitive to transfer in to journalism even internally and you would have to impress but it is possible. You could also try and transfer from any arts degree at other unis like USyd/UNSW etc. Only do social inquiry if it sounds like something you would like...

anyone out there who thinks HSC is elitist?

Saying the HSC is elitist in comparison to the VCE makes no sense. Both the Victorian ENTER and the UAI and calculated in a similar way as a percentile rank... It may seem like everyone in the HSC does uber-well if you look at this board, but as the others have stated, it's just because...

    English Extension 2 biased?

I did EE2 two years ago and when I only got 36 for my exam mark and 49 for my internal my teachers were very surprised, especially when people in my class who the teachers thought wouldn't do as well got in the 40s. They tried to have it checked, we did a clerical recheck, my english teacher...

    Highest ever!!!

It won't really make a difference, because everyone in the state probably did better in the exams than they comparatively would last year because each year the teachers learn better ways to teach the syllabus etc and more is known about it, hence you will still be ranked basically in the same...

    Writing & Contemporary Cultures

You have to work hard for it. You have to ring around places and ask them if you have a story if they will publish it. Be prepared to write for free for anything that offers a byline or a reference of some sort. Do work experience. You need to write stories during your spare time or uni...

    UTS exchange services

Saved up a fair amount by working multiple jobs all this year, but I am also hoping to work a bit as well over there (still uncertain as to whether I will have the legal right to work on the visa I will be on because I am studying for less than six months so I'm not entitled to a student visa...

    Writing & Contemporary Cultures

I don't think they would care what degree you had, as long as you have a portfolio of published work when you graduate. That is the most important thing and that is what they will look at above all else. You should just do what degree interests you the most. A straight arts degree etc might...

    30 million dollars

Some of the money is going towards scholarships for Australian students to study in Asia as well. Not sure what proportion. But maybe if we get more international students the government will be under more pressure to make sure university services are adequately funded.... maybe *dreams and...

ABC: Young Singers Spread Racist Hate

They would probably attract an audience in Cronulla. Probably in a lot of parts of australia, there are a hell of a lot of racists out there unfortunately... It's sad that they have been bought up in that way.

    Writing & Contemporary Cultures

If you want to do journalism in a specialist area you should just do a degree in that area. E.g. do a degree in art theory or something. Or just do a general arts degree maybe where you can study art alongside writing. YOu need to have specialist knowledge to become a specialist writer. By...

    UTS exchange services

Gap years aren't offered by unis, they are offered through groups like GAP... gap year usually refers to a year off between school and uni. If you mean six months/a year abroad studying as part of your degree, then go to http://www.iis.uts.edu.au and click on exchanges. I'm about to go on...

    Cheap Sydney Accommodation

At most of the backpackers around railway square you can get a bed for about $20 a night in a dorm. We stayed in this seedy place not far from central called Alfred Park Budget Accomodation and it was really shit. It was in surry hills, I think it was about $15 a night for a dorm bed.
