    Question Chain Thread !!!

    Here's my solution, though I'm not sure if it's correct. n(Ca(OH2) = 0.12/74.08 n(Ca(OH)2) = 1.62 x 10-3 [Ca(OH)2] = 1.62 x 10-3[/sup / 0.1L =0.0162 mol.L-1 (max concentration of Ca(OH)2 possible at 25C) n(OH-) = 2 x n(Ca(OH)2) n(OH-) = 3.24 x 10-3 [OH-] = 0.0324 mol.L-1 [H+] =...

    66% you think gets you.....

Considering E4 cut-off was 45-52/84 for MX1 in 2001, I don't understand why people are pulling out figures such as 70s and low 80s for E4. Even 55/84 is too high for E4. I reckon this year it might be around 43-50/84

When using neutralisation to safely minimise damage in chemical spills, the following must be considered: - It must be certain that ALL of the acid/base has been removed via neutralisation. In other words, the acid or base that is used to neutralise the chemical spill MUST be in excess, to...

Well nah, I wouldn't worry, the syllabus doesn't require u to remember particular condensation polymers, EXCEPT for the dotpoint where u have to kind of do research on a recently developed biopolymer etc. Usually any condensation polymerisation questions are based on stimulus material they...

    pet and nylon

The syllabus requires u to know about three types of polymers and their respective monomers: -Polyethylene -Poly(vinyl chloride) -Polystyrene Know about the properties of each, structural formulae (common and systematic names of polymers and their respective monomers), and how their uses...

yeah, it is, because all combustions are exothermic. although when u find the molar heat of combustion, I don't think u actually have to write a minus in front of ur answer.

Estimate what mark I'll get for maths!

What would a raw mark of 108-110/120 align to?
  10. D

    Aligning

All subjects align 'upwards'. The aligned exam and moderated assessment marks that are reported on your HSC document are always higher than the raw, unaligned marks. Science subjects (Chem, Phys, Bio) generally align around the same. (80/100 for band 6 - although Bio tends to be a couple of...

Here's a question from a topic test our school gave us on Acidic Environment: A crusty white deposit around the rim of an irrigation pipe was thought to consist of a mixture of sodium chloride and sodium carbonate. To test for sodium carbonate, the following procedure was followed. -A...

The soft drink becomes more 'flat' as the following reaction is favoured to partially offset loss in CO2(g) (by leaving the bottle unopened): heat + CO2(aq) ---> CO2(g) Hence, as heat is absorbed/required in favourng the above reaction, the thermemoter will detect a drop in temperature of the...

Who is expecting to get spanked by chem?

The key to success with Chem is to have studied consistently throughout the year, and do past papers throughout the year. Your best bet now is to just keep doing past papers, and then revise properly on ur weaker areas.

lol I even forgot what the hell we were talking about. Btw, guys I think that the syllabus doesn't say you need to know a particular scientist (ie with name and all), know a type of chemist, that works in a NAMED industry, and what chemical properties they use etc.

Aligned marks for Chem n Physics for 85

To get 85 aligned exam mark, you would need around 75-78/100 I'd imagine.
