Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) basically if you can do that question, you should be able to get most HSC volumes questions.

Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) volumes. If u do 4u, do it by the cylindrical shells method. If you do 3u, subtract a couple of the volumes created from each other.

    Distribution of income and wealth

shit didnt see that bit, they are. automatic stabilisers are elements of government policy that automatically kick in to increase/decrease aggregate demand relative to cyclical conditions of bust/boom. Although this is mainly used to stimulate or contract consumer spending, it is an effective...

    Distribution of income and wealth

you could talk about automatic stabilisers. even though they encompass welfare and taxation, it is a nice extension of application also, monetary policy =/= government policy. The RBA is a seperate entity from the government, so within this question, you should talk entirely about fiscal policy...

How much would a raw mark of 70 for 4U maths be scaled up to?

this is a very general question. you have to ask this question relative to a specific subject otherwise it is invalid. Also, there is a difference between scaled and aligned marks, so you will probably be more likely referring to aligned marks, i.e. band 6, 5,4 etc. as far as your "bad"...

Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) btw, i just made the question up from before, so while there is definitely a solution, it may be irrational and we may not be able to find it by 3 or 4u means. You can just give solutions to a few dp if you do get a solution. i dont have one myself yet.

Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) that is a quality question!!!! did it, and i think the solution is correct as the lim k-->0 worked :) For others, the question is find the volume of the area between the line y=kx rotated about the y axis, and a 1 unit radius sphere "dropped" in the cone formed. Find...

Re: HSC 2012 Marathon :) i will do the question tomorrow, but it will be intriguing, as you will have to find a relationship between the unit circle, and the line kx, so you will have to find the centre of the unit circle using perp. distance formula, and then integrate both and subtract...

    ATAR estimate please!

if you do 4u maths, 2u maths cannot count. You can definitely still get 91 with those ranks :) just do better in the externals than your internal assessment marks
