Scholarships Youth Allowance Rent Assistance Why do I get none of these and instead am working 3 jobs? I am poor, had to move from home, hence uni is bloody expensive. Bloody Liberal government! The university experience is significantly easier if you have wealth. It is more of a...

There is a competition next week where you can win money for guessing the stalker, so we will probably have 6 people to pick from or something and then you ring up.

    Are checkouts that bad?

LOL the other day when I was at work at Coles this old lady came through with all this cat food, so I was trying to have a meaningless conversation with her.... I asked her how many cats she had "I have no cats" she says *awkward silence* lol I almost burst out laughing.... maybe she...

VSU Impending - WHAT CAN YOU DO? R00fledoodleZ

I am a little bit in the middle on this one..... I am kinda anti-VSU, but I can understand why some people want it. However, I think the VSU proposal could be modified somewhat to still allow unions to function, but so that people were only paying for what they wanted. E.g. Union fees could...

Anyone do or want to do journalism?

UTS Journo grads go far..... UTS students got 4 of the 7 Fairfax cadetships that are offered in Australia last year (known as being one of the best ways to get in to journo, fairfax cadetships are gold and so hard to get). Funnily enough it would probably be so much cheaper for you to move to...

    Uni living arangements

My friend is at New College at UNSW and she loves it.... except the food is a bit dodgy. Ask on the UNSW and USyd forums and you might get some more responses. I worked at Sydney Uni Village for a while earlier this year, and if you want a more independent on campus thing it is pretty...

wats the uts exchange fair all about?

It's only important if you are considering going on exchange, particularly in 2006..... which I am considering. So unless you are considering going on exchange in 2006 then it isn't of particular interest. Unfortunately I am working tomorrow! Dammit! But I have already done lots of...

    Rules for Customers

Woah, some of you guys have no tolerance for customers.... some people can't help being stupid ya know lol. Anyway, some of the things that annoy me are really pretentious customers... no matter how much you kissed their butts they would criticize your service or something. I always try and...

    ajc

I have a feeling that they don't have many staff that they keep on all the time, at least for F&B.... they use agency casuals and often recruit people specifically for certain events (such as the easter racing carnival)

    Centrelink

Argh I simply said that if you don't work and your parents earn over the threshold you are dependant on them according to centrelink until you are 25, unless other circumstances arise. It used to be 21, but they changed it when the introduced youth allowance. In the example I gave, I...

    Assylum seeker action

You don't protest for something, you lobby for something. A protest by it's very nature is an act of defiance. The Christian lobby has been particularly forceful lately.... it was them that have been pushing the idea that Christian refugees should be released etc. Also, you have the gay...

    Centrelink

Well, if you don't earn the money, you are "dependant" on your parents until you are 25.... hence you are their financial responsibility. The government isn't going to pay for you even if you are unemployed (if your parents earn above the certain income/assets thresholds), hence your parents...

    Uni living arangements

It depends on you. I think it is still cheaper to cook for yourself and pay cheaper rent than to eat college food and pay the high fees of college. But if you don't want to cook, then catered accomodation is for you! Also, often the food in catered colleges is crap, but you have to pay...

    Assylum seeker action

The solutions can be found by looking at how other countries (often these other countries have a higher influx of refugees/"illegals" to deal with... Australia is geographically isolated so European countries recieve much larger amounts of people) deal with refugees and asylum seekers... they...

    Assylum seeker action

People who are protesting often have ideas for solutions. They aren't just ranting. Today the speakers were highly educated. The main speaker was a Doctor, a psychiatrist. There were also speakers from the teacher's federation. They aren't just ranting propaganda, but citing research etc...
