    Assylum seeker action

I was one of the protestors at Villawood today (see http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,12811227%255E1702,00.html for a brief story on it), it was such an eye opening experience.... so many Australians are apathetic, they don't take the time to listen to the stories...

Casual or Part time: which is better?

It depends... casual can be better because you can work more in holidays and less in semester or when you have assignments etc. Plus if you chop and change your jobs all the time (like me) then you never stay long enough to get the benefits of part time employment.

Casual or Part time: which is better?

It depends on your circumstances.... but there is certainly a lot more security in being part time.

Anyone do or want to do journalism?

Yeah some of my friends at uni are in journo/law.... it opens up other career options besides just journalism and/or law because you can work in media companies in legal consultancy, write stories for legal publications etc. It is a very useful double degree... law knowledge is really useful...

610 BUS hits old man yesterday in city! Um...safety issues!

People get hit all the time by cars and buses, it is freaky. It's because people always in a damn hurry in the city.... a few seconds of extra time to check that the intersection is clear doesn't take much effort.

As for the parents saying you should be financially accountable when you are 18.... well the government says that your parents have to support you until you are 25 now lol. That's the problem with claiming YA.... it's such a screwy system I reckon.

I have a full study load.... 24 cp (I think UTS's cp system is different to Macs, but that is a full load, you can't take any more subjects without special approval) I just have good time management I guess.... last year my subjects were all pass/fail, so I just had to get a pass. This year we...

    F*ck you Coles Myer

You can't compare maccas to CM, as someone said. McDonalds stores are franchises, CM stores aren't.... it's a totally different ball game.

Anyone do or want to do journalism?

I study journo at UTS and lurve it! It's a cut-throat industry, the others are right.... but if you want it, you gotta chase it. Plus a journo degree is useful for heaps of other media/PR related careers, and a journo/law degree is particularly useful. Basically, UTS and CSU are the best...

I live in university owned apartments Pros -close to uni -right in the city.... so close to everything -much more exciting than living in Albury -more independence -less to worry about than in the private rental market.... I have to cook for myself, but I don't have gas/electricity/water...

    Power and Change Q

WTF? Who failed you for that? Who is your tutor? You should complain to the subject coordinator, that is nonsense. It's so funny, I remember last year thinking this assignment was tough.... then I realized things got worse from there lol.... but you get used to the university style of...

    F*ck you Coles Myer

I started at Coles this week.... I already have two other jobs and have been offered several others by the time Coles got back to me. The only reason I took it is because it is a part time position with set shifts.... easy to organize my life around. The system is pretty stupid..... but I...

    anyone work for Eurest?

Eurest is really terrible.... I don't know which company has the contract at the superdome, but when I worked there the supervisors were these 15 year olds who were totally lazy and just gossiped the whole time.... I came in from the agency to be a barista, and had to coordinate the cleaning...

why does everyone keep saying that communications is shit?

In 2nd year it gets so much better.... I'm enjoying it so much more this year, there were quite a few negetives about the first year subjects. This year is better because it is graded so you actually have something to motivate you, secondly because you can pick your subjects, and thirdly...
