    wanted: law and economics books

Erm... don't you use Blackshield & Williams for FedCon in 4th/5th year? It's a very good book, quite handy. I wouldn't sell it

    Supermarket fun

Normally it would be stealing, however since they put it in their trolley it might indicate that they had no intention of stealing. However they would definitely have converted the goods and would be liable under tort. So perhaps not criminally liable, but certainly there is civil liability.

The contrast between Howard and Beazely on the London attacks

No, look Beazley is a clever man. His attitude has more often than not been genuinely reasonable. But when he starts saying things like that you know it's to win people over. He's trying to punch through with the sound bytes. He's trying to sell the Labor message (which he has to do). I just...

Exactly To someone like me it feels really false... I know it's a sale

    The Mandate Theory

I was fairly impressed with Rolfe, as in you see his leftism ('cultural elite side') but he makes a good attempt at being unbiased and scrutinising both sides. Although he still hasn't given me my essay back after I re-submitted it....

The contrast between Howard and Beazely on the London attacks

I would have liked to have seen more Beazely quotes, but I have to say I'm dissappointed with that particular one. I think in his attempt to get in touch with the people by getting a strong message on national security across (Beazely will never forget the importance of foreign threats), he may...

    Labor's policies= Our policies

This thread has dissolved into insults and there is no sensible discussion left. (This isn't surprising seeing as there wasn't much of an issue put forward in the initial post anyway, other than a list of policies.) This is an old thread that no longer has a point, which unfortunately has not...

    London Explosion

He's not an idiot and as to dismissing his opinions as 'left', I should mention that he is more on your side of the political spectrum than you think. Please try and respect your adversaries - if they are reasonable, which most people are, they will respect you also.

    The Mandate Theory

For the most part I found the two texts fairly unbiased and neutral, but yeh they do have their little scruples thrown in now and again and you get a hint into the writers' positions ...is that really anti-mathmite?

    The Mandate Theory

Comments by Australian politics textbook writer, Graham Maddox, on the mandate issue: This makes sense to me and I am sceptical of the mandate theory. It is interesting, as Asqy mentioned, that after the 1998 election Howard emphasised his mandate to implement the GST. Yet now we see the same...

    law advice

Basically if he was going to sue, he would sue for negligence. The occupier of land owes a duty of care to any entrants on it. However, from what I understand of the facts, he would have to sue the company, not you. Since what you were doing was in the scope of your employment, principles of...

    Barrister Work Experience Report.

There are many issues involved in evidence -- relevance, whether the probative value outweighs the prejudicial value, hearsay, leading questions, unduly harrassing questions, asking for opinion rather that an account, etc. Could be anything. But very interesting read Pwar

13 year old's jail sentence cut in half

With that attitude I'm sure he won't change. Don't forget he's a human being too. Dehumanising these people into monsters does nothing to solve the problem. Along with punishment we should be attempting to rehabilitate these people.

13 year old's jail sentence cut in half

What he did is absolutely terrible. But consideration should still be given to the fact that he was only 13.

You'd be suprised! For cute I'd say the commerce faculty is better though. But I go for pretty, not cute. So law is generally alrite.

    African Famine

It is a different question as to how the aid is controlled and how it will be spent - than to whether aid should be provided at all. If the aid can be provided in a way in which we see it put to effective use, I think the wealthier countries do have an obligation to step in and take measures to...
