    It's called due process, and is essential to the administration of justice. While some have more merit than others, technicalities are there for good reasons and serve to protect people and uphold fairness most of the time. The "scumbag lawyers" coupled with "getting off on technicalities"...

    According to a study on how many times the recent High Court has been divided politically on decisions in the past few years, it was once, and on something completely irrelevant. The bench may be more conservative, but "corruption" is a very far-fetched possibility

    That can be provided for in the republic model, or in written form. The Constitution prevents that, as interpretted by the judiciary.
