Have you checked the subject reviews thread? The subject has been reviewed by myself and a few others. Basically, the main lecturer is awesome, really funny. And the subject is not hard, but there is a fair bit of reading. And the fall of the republic is covered towards the end of the course.

All I've heard about Junior French it is that it's very fast paced, but I think all junior language units are like that (First year apparently gets you to the same level as an HSC extension course so there is a lot to cover)

I don't think they offer midyear transfers for commerce. I may be wrong though
