We don't have to know the name of a chemist; we are only asked to outline the role of a chemist in a named industry. I would say fermentation first hand investigation would be a nice question, but don't quote me for that because never once I correctly predicted a question for HSC. ;)

That's exactly how you derive permutation formula from combination formula (by multiply it with r!). No wonder the answer is the same... :D Parts (i) and (ii) and also (iii), that's what I mean. Edit first post. Sorry I typed my original post straight from memory, not by doing it again at home...

Yeah, using part (ii) and (iii) you get a polynomial, then solve it. You have to write down how you get that as part (iv) worth 2 marks. I am just too lazy to type it here...:D

Well, at least in Math, we are not doomed by BOS syllabi (memorise those and follow closely every dot poins like there is no life outside the syllabi). Math is more open-ended unlike English stupid texts and area of study, physics, chemistry and most Board-developed subjects. I doubt many...

If that's a scaled mark, I think it is about right. 74-75/84. But who knows what 50/84 will scale you up to? 70/84? You just can't predict scaling as it is the BOS' underground project :D.

Scaling is unpredictable. And how do you get raw marks cut-off from past years anyway? BOS will just probably estimate and give you some random raw marks and also so-called scaling marks. The process is completely hidden. (Unless you paid BOS I heard)
