    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

Nice Lockhart. Thanks for tabulating them. Note that there are some incorrect answers that you didn't make it red. (question 7 and 13). Questions 7, 8, 9 and 10 pose to be the most problematic ones. So no one got full mark?

Who else got good luck emails from Univeristies

Got a good-luck letter from ANU on Friday. I think we only got one from our first preference, didn't we? Because I also have UNSW, USyd, UTS, UWS, UoW and Maq in my preferences and I only got one.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

    Good then. ;) This is the most correct answer according to the majority of BoSers. Take this as official until the Board of Studies releases the actual answers. So if you want to mark yours, use this: 1. C 2. B 3. D 4. B 5. D 6. A 7. D 8. A 9. B 10. A 11. A 12. C 13. D 14. C 15. A

    Questions i didnt know

For those of you who still think that part (b) is about superconductor, then I say this for clarity: NO SUPERCONDUCTOR. Physics reasons have been provided above. (not low enough for critical temperature of copper) This is the logic reason: I know most think about superconductor due to it is...

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

@matty fwd - Question 9 is the only one upped for debate. I don't know about homopolar or whatever generator but I think we only need to know AC and DC Generators for the HSC Physics syllabus, unless I missed a dotpoint or two in section 9.1 of syllabus or third column.

Stupid mistakes, cmon tell us u fucked up

The most stupid mistake I made is number 5 multiple choice. I thought so the R is R:16R, then I used T=2piR/v formula to find period ratio. And of course I got 1:16 which is wrong.:( That and magnet fell in a copper tube one.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

@StYlez - 13/15, if 9 is B. 7 is D (look at it again, it is sin90, the 45 is just to trick you) 10 is A (It is DC) @nath_quam - 13/15 if 9 is B. 5 is D (using Kepler's Third Law. How did you get C?) 7 is D (look at the diagram again, it is sin90, the 45 is just to trick you OR you...

    General thoughts on the exam

Yeah I knew this stuff. My teacher told me once. The problem with Medical Physics is that it is too easy that I believe many would not do so great on their cores. I opposed doing this option from day one (I wanted to do Quanta to Quarks because it looked interesting) but since few of my...

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

Are you sure you are not confusing current with conventional current? I assume throughout the physics course we take it as conventional current whenever "current" word appears, otherwise it will be called electron.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

Re: Q10 Is Effed.... 10. A (Look at few post above for some discussion about this) You got 14/15 if 9 is B which I gradually believe to be true.

    Length contraction???

Thanks Sober. At least you confirm that I got the mass one correct, and I think incorrect substitution in part (c) will only cost 1 mark. So stop arguing before you read the whole thread or otherwise just get over it. Note: Physics is my "toy" subject anyway...

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

Tell me how can you get A? Question 3 is aether thing. You referred to question 4 which is yes.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

    No, you are not serious. You got everything wrong I believe (except 7 and 13) This is the most correct answer at the moment (the only ambiguous one is 9): 1. C 2. B 3. D 4. B 5. D 6. A 7. D 8. A 9. B 10. A 11. A 12. C 13. D 14. C 15. A

    General thoughts on the exam

Hmm, try medical physics option. It is the easiest option and there is only one tricky question from H11 part of syllabus worth 3 marks and 1 similar question with CSSA 2006 worth 7 marks. Congrats CSSA people for predicting this question.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

A is the most incorrect one. Where I found this? Calculate it yourself, take like 10 seconds. That's why there is a lot of misunderstanding when replying to people who had picked C. Don't know if it is C or D though, but I think it is C because the orientation of the coil does not matter as...

    The projectile motion question

No, it is 2 significant figure, NOT 2 decimal place.

    Want to compare multiple-choice answers?

Haha BOS has done it again... Question 7: If you got B, that's mean you used 0.4m as length and sin45 which is incorrect. (but this is what I got :() If you got C, well, there are two choices here: 1 if you used sin45 BUT use diagonal length (pythagoras stuff) 2 if you used sin90 BUT use...

    The projectile motion question

I believe the markers will look at your significant figure. For this question, it is 2 significant figure. So if you got 367.2m for (d), then it should be 370 for 2 significant figure. My ex-HSC marker chemistry teacher (I know this is physics but this still applies) said if you don't round your...

    General thoughts on the exam

Good luck for your scholarship. Anyway, HSC Physics from what I heard is very different from Uni Physics (if you want to do physics in university) due to the way the NSW BOS examined us. HSC Physics is more language orientated (qualitative and history - you remember and memorise) whereas uni...
