    Calculus.. help with questions

Or if you're feeling extra lazy (NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HSC STUDENTS)... t_{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{ln(2)}{k} ln(\frac{N_0}{N_t})=kt

Okay so I'm sure many of you have been through this but

You can also get your classmates to send complaints to the faculty. Happened in my class and the teacher was not allowed to teach that particular subject for Yr 12 and we ended getting a much better one.

Lenovo Thinkpads are very reliable and they have great keyboards.

    Calculus.. help with questions

There are many ways to do this question, this is typically what they expect for an HSC response (except the annotations) The generic decay equation: N=N_0e^{-kt} Where N_0 is the initial amount of the element when t=0 and if you plug it into the equation you get N=N_0. We can assume N_0=1 k is...

    Question about required textbooks

https://m.pearson.com.au/products/detail?isbn=9781486007042 Probably this one. Maybe you should hold out until lectures start, the lecturers will usually go through this.

The format on their website isn't the best: http://www.pearson.com.au/products/A-C-Brown-Theodore-L-Et-Al/Chemistry-The-Central-Science/9781442554603?R=9781442554603

Is commerce at USYD or law at Macquarie more likely to lead to success?

Succeed in what? What areas of commerce/law interests you?

    Few questions

Yes, ATAR is not used as a reflection of course difficulty. E.g. Have a look at science majors such as maths, physics, etc at UTS, they have much lower ATARS (~72) since they're not all that popular/have lots of vacancies.

    Few questions

I have a lot of friend who do science (all bio related) at UTS. They all say the workload is higher than in high-school but the difficulty varies between subjects (e.g. Some are mainly a rehash of HSC subjects especially in first semester) whilst other subjects require you to put in some effort...

    Few questions

It is mostly up to the unit itself and how interested and dedicated you are (I hate it when people refer it to as study smart without actually saying what to do) and everyone has their own study habits. Some harder subjects will require more. It would be useful to mention what you are studying...

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Some of the math tutors\lecturers at USYD refer to the arrow notation as the "Russian way" of writing it. Apparently the normal westernised one is basically a squiggly line that's under the letter.

    Uni vs HSC

Passing a course is dependent on what the requirements are e.g. a-lot of the times it is actually 50% but certain subjects have requirements such as obtaining a minimal mark of X in assessment Y and even if you achieve 50% or more overall they can still fail you based on that criteria alone...

    University Maths

Since you're doing advanced mathematics, for first year single-variable calculus you should definitely try Calculus by Spivak.

    phys107 & phys140

Since they're roughly the same, shouldn't that be why they're anti-requisites? Reading the descriptions, it seems that PHYS140 has more of a focus on electricity and magnetism whilst the other course seems to be more of an introduction to a broad range of physics subjects that were pioneered...

Haven't done the maths bridging course!

TBH if you got a high band 5, band 6 in 2U you shouldn't have that much difficulty. The only important topics to revise that may show up are mainly for integration: 3U trig identities - VERY IMPORTANT, especially for integration Polynomial long division - Integration (partial fractions)...

University of Wollongong vs uSyd - Engineering?

That varies throughout the university just like almost very every other institution in world Would agree on the crappy facilities again but the people are generally quiet nice and their isn't really any elitist attitude I've personally come-across.
