that acid 1 acid 2 question

Acid 1 was a less dilute, strong acid. Acid 2 was a more concentrated, weak acid. The volume of KOH showed which was more dilute/concentrated, the pH showed whether an acid was strong or weak. As KOH is a strong base, only a strong acid would have neutralised at pH 7. Unfortunately, your salt...

    Bread Question

Haber process had nothing to do with it, they said the nitrogen was converted to ammonia. That was for your information. It doesn't matter HOW they did it, what matters is that you assume 100% of the nitrogen was in ammonia because that's what they told you. Don't try and be smart about how...

    What do you guys think?

Exemptions cost you money...this is probably another scheme by the RTA to squeeze dollars out of us poor helpless citizens.

that acid 1 acid 2 question

Not necessarily, the only thing that makes an acid strong is if it completely dissociates. It's quite possible that a weak acid could have that pH. BTW the question was Name the salt which forms when KOH is reacted with an acid similar to Acid 2. In other words, give an example of a salt...

    Equiliberium and Concentration question

Actually, the volume increased, thats why the concentration went down. Although I just said they scooped 1/3 of the gases out (since they would have been evenly mixed) since I didn't think it was possible to change the shape of a container in such a way, and because there was less gas, the...

Is Hg/Na an emulsion? I thought that was an amalgam...or are they the same??

    Industrial Chem

I said emulsions allow two substances to be mixed which has great uses in cooking where mixing flavours is the goal, then provided the example of mayonnaise being an emulsion of vinegar, oil and water =D

    how was it

Easy test, i'm very pleased with it, though I have got a few wrong, band five im still keen for =D

    speeding lols

Apparently it's a flat 2kmh. You can definitely be penalised for doing 108 in a 100 zone or 96 in a 90 zone. But for the police themselves they have to assume the camera is over-reading and must adjust accordingly, so 65km/h may in fact be a more acceptable 62. This is probably the origin of the...

    Ethanol as a fuel

Some engines (and car owners) disagree with ethanol fuel making it hard to mandate - issues with warranties, engine repairs, etc. Increased fuel consumption when using ethanol. Stock for ethanol may eventually compete with food supplies, particularly in third world countries where returns...

    When calculating eq. constant...

True >.< Well even so, this should be of some relevance since the exam is tomorrow.

States of ethanol and glucose in fermentation

Only if it got to the point where everyone was getting the basic answer, and they needed to see who knew their states correctly to distinguish the wheat from the chaff. Also some equations we are expected to learn the states - e.g. Haber process, formation of acid rain etc.

    Naming Citric Acid

You are correct, however carboxylic acid groups take precedence over the hydroxypropane, therefore it comes last. Link

States of ethanol and glucose in fermentation

Octane is liquid. I think they are liquids from around pentane? Don't overlook things like temperature and pressure. Methane is gaseous, ethanol can be gaseous if the temperature is high enough, bromine is both a gas and liquid. Solutions are always (aq).

    When calculating eq. constant...

No, fail. The K value is the ratio of products to reactants in an equilibrium system. OBVIOUSLY NO UNITS.

    speeding lols

Stationary speed cameras have a +/-2kph discrepancy, speed cameras in a moving police vehicle have +/-3kph. From the ops manual.

That was a hard test! I'm hoping for around 60-63/84. Wtf Q6 and 7? The dots question!?
