Not necessarily true. OP, you can do literally anything you want in EE2. Personally, I think I had 7-8 short stories/vignettes in my major work and none of them were thematically linked. They had a very faint overarching theme, but you could only find this out by reading my reflection statement...

Do a couple of past papers to determine what topics you're having difficulty with, then stay up long enough to cover it. Get some sleep, and wake up early tomorrow morning to do another past paper or cover more topics. (year 10 doesn't count at all, don't sweat it)

Pretty sure you need at least four subjects for the HSC. OP, I do both extensions. It's not a big deal, quite a lot of people around me do it.

I'd stay at your current school. If you come first, your cohort won't affect you, and it's better to have a leadership role at a lower ranked school than to be an average student at a better ranked one.
