Black Hawker it appears as though you'd do well in both subjects, so it's ultimately just a matter of which one you enjoy more. Don't feel obliged to take up Modern just because you're good at it -- if you love Economics, then the effort you put into it is going to pay off.

Thank you very much for the advice. At the moment there's no question about me doing EE2; I love the subject and am confident in my ability in it. History Ext. is the major question mark for me. I've got a year before I have to make a decision, I just wanted to get a general idea early. :)

It's school procedure to "sign out" every year at my school, but no one really does. You sound like me. :( I feel your pain, buddy. I actually love my grade, we're pretty small (120 of us) and almost every friendship group gets along with the others. It's not too clique-y and everyone is really supportive and friendly...I'll shut up now, but yeah. I love my grade.

I think Year 9s can do part of the SC just like Year 11s can do parts of the HSC, through acceleration.

Well, the thing is, majority of people don't even bother studying for the SC. You'd hope there'd be some effort put into the HSC, no matter how minimal it is. Add that to the fact that in the HSC you are doing subjects you want to do and picked yourself, eg not necessarily Georgraphy or Science...

Well, I didn't really try at all. haha I wasn't motivated enough to study and put effort into it.
