Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

One more! http://handbook.uts.edu.au/directory/cbk90782.html At the top they state 'free choices of electives' (to fill up the remaining 48 vacant credit points), does this mean I can choose any electives at all? For example scientific computing (link -...

Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

hmmm, yeah I noticed that as well. Do you think this quite disadvantageous in the software developing world (jobs, employment, etc)? Like, would it be then considered an inferior course? Edit: If it comes to it, I'd be willing to independently learn it through Open Course ware (from Mit, maybe...

Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

Actual coding, but perhaps even project managing in the future? Definitely start off developing, and maybe after achieving a certificate in project managing. https://www.uts.edu.au/future-students/find-a-course/courses/c10148 <---- I plan to do 'Enterprise Systems Development' as my major, if...

Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

Starting to fill in my preferences for UAC, interested in mainly Comp Sci, but at UTS I can't find such a course. I've heard that UTS has a different name for Computer Science, so would it be 'Bachelor of Science in IT'? I don't like the idea that it is business oriented, I'd honestly...

How hard or time consuming would be a combined commerce degree?

Thanks so much for the awesome responses guys! Definitely helped me a ton! :D

How difficult or time consuming would be a Computer Science degree?

For anyone who's finished or is doing the degree at UNSW or USYD (please specify), I'd really appreciate it if you could answer a few questions. How difficult would you say it is? (Perhaps, as a comparison with the HSC: Phys, Chem, Ext1 Maths?) On a daily basis, how many hours did/do you...

How hard or time consuming would be a combined commerce degree?

Alright, thank you! I think I probably will be able to fit in a part time job!

How hard or time consuming would be a combined commerce degree?

Yeah, I think for Comm/IS it's 4 years, and Comm/Eng 5.5 years. I'm more interested in the day-to-day basis though, I plan to get a part time job whilst in uni so I'm worried whether I'd be able to handle it.

How hard or time consuming would be a combined commerce degree?

Let's say either Comm/IS or Comm/Eco, would I be for example able to have a part time job alongside the duration of my degree? Compared to HSC, how time consuming are they? What would your weekly schedule be like? Is it 5 days a week? On free days/weekends do you usually spend time...

ATAR estimate? Is it too late?

Hi, so I had received my report, and it was a major downer for me, I studied, but ultimately didn't do as well I wanted to. However with my current ranks, I hope to get an idea what ATAR I'm headed at, and perhaps with Trials to go I can improve a few places. School Ranking: around 170s...

I think i have failed some of my half yearlys

Depends on your cohort, how they did as well. Did you do bad compared to everyone else? How are your ranks? Realistically you probably won't be able to Band 6 Maths/Phys, but you could have a shot at Band 5 (which is actually good for both maths/phys). A lot of people are going to stuff their...

    Words per minute

24 wpm, about 1200 words every 50mins -__- Really need to work on my speed. I guess ideal speed would be around 27-28wpm as most people have their essays around 1100 words, and aim to finish writing in 40mins.

How many units are you doing?

Doing 12, but considering to drop 1 unit depending on half yearly results. Dropping to 10 would mean you'd have no 'back-up' to fall back on in case you flunk your HSC exam, but if you're super confident in your 10 units or simply know you're not doing that great on a 2 unit subject, then by all...

    Who's doing FRANKEN-RUNNER in 2014?

Yep, it seems interesting! Btw, do HSC markers care that much about originality on concepts or ideas in essays (pretty much your thesis)? If nearly 80% of the state is doing Frankenstein and Bladerunner wouldn't it be harder to appear more 'original' or 'different'?

What ranks are required for a 99 atar?

Thanks a lot guys! Found out I need top 5 for all, except adv English and bio :)

What ranks are required for a 99 atar?

Rough estimate on cohort sizes: Chem: 100 Phys: 70 Bio: 170 Maths: 150 Adv English: 180 Ext Maths: 45 Ext English: 40 Which ranks should I have to achieve? Thank you so far!

What ranks are required for a 99 atar?

Definitely ranked around the 170s, but I've heard that your school rank doesn't help much?

What ranks are required for a 99 atar?

Assuming you get 93+ in your ten units, for me: adv maths and english, bio, phys and chem (matrix calculator result in these figures for a 99 atar). And what if you attend a large senior school where there are around 400 students doing the HSC, and bio for example has more than 200 students...
