    Need help deciding

You can do a bridging course (if it's a prerequisite). From what I gather from forums, it seems uni physics is nearly all maths compared to hsc physics, so you'r not missing out on much tbh.

    Windows 10 Technical Preview

Wasn't Win8 final version of technical preview free? What are your thoughts on the UI? I thought it was a solid move to disable the start screen to a smaller start menu, much more functional that way since I never use the start screen.

    New years resolutions

    1) Limit non-social gaming to max 5hrs per week. 2) Continue running through out the year, but at a more balanced pace. 3) Run a marathon successfully. 4) Become more social - i.e. becoming a 'yes man'. 5) Make sure history never repeats - no cramming, studying regularly and actually...

'What is your favourite youtube channel' thread

WatchMojo is like a click-bait website that actually delivers - definitely impressed with the quality of their videos. ColdfusTion is a mix between documentary style videos and an emphasis on graphical aesthetic - really cool. JeremyJahns, the guy uploads short and engaging reviews on current...

    Favourite cartoon shows from childhood

During a family gathering my younger cousin was pretty much fixated on watching YouTube Let's Plays on his iPad the entire time, while the rest of us played outside. So it might not be that kids shows are declining in ratings, but rather it's a different time (internet, tablets etc); a lot...

    UNSW Info day!

It was decent, got a better idea about what electives to pick, and the tour was nice. Lots of walking and stairs, so my buddy and I skipped halfway through the tour :P

    Favourite cartoon shows from childhood

Recently started watching Arthur again (the episodes seem to have surfaced on YouTube), though it's mainly my brothers and I constantly making crude jokes whilst watching :D

Does anyone else feel really pressured into certain career paths?

It's only natural for parents to have high expectations for their children! :)

Does anyone else feel really pressured into certain career paths?

Happened to me last year, but by then I had already decided on a different career path - though I never would've considered it if it wasn't for the fact the area pays decently. I always understood my parents wanted me to become a doctor for financial stability, but once I explained to them that...

    UNSW Info day!

Just read this thread, so compsci kids go to the engineering lectures. Is there like a place where I can ask current CS students about stuff? Besides the 'women in engineering' tours, which I can't seem to select compsci. Can't wait for free pens, there goes half my back to school shopping! :D...

Then Computer Science will suit you MUCH better. More freedom with electives, and is more suitable for research.

    Head start?

Instead of doing an entire course, why not check out what textbooks or notes your future degree may require you to read from? Start reading those and get a head start, I'm sure you'd be able to ask the university or at least the students who are currently doing the degree.

Couple of questions about BSci (Computer Science)

They're always taught along with the syntax of the language, for example in lpthw, every chapter teaches a new concept WITH the syntax of Python so you can practise them yourself. What I meant by my comment about teaching yourselves the fundamentals first is that they are usually the same in...
