Couple of questions about BSci (Computer Science)

I guess it wouldn't hurt to do a little bit of reading, I'm a lot more excited for algorithms and programming though :D They can be extremely helpful, especially if you've never programmed before. I found Zed Shaw's 'Learn Python The Hard Way' to be good, it's also available online for free as...

How many EAS bonus points does UNSW give for disadvantaged schools?

The don't disclose it, I think the consensus is that the more popular a degree the lower number of points they give out. Someone on BOS got around 2-3 for a commerce degree.

Couple of questions about BSci (Computer Science)

How much time do you guys estimate you spend on a computer science degree weekly in number of hours? Would it be helpful if I start learning discrete maths now? Since I've heard so many people struggle with it...

Does EAS and HSC Plus bonus points stack?

Just got emailed back, capped at ten for HSC Plus and EAS together. http://i.imgur.com/ASoMiRZ.jpg Thanks for your input guys!

When does UNSW release their 2015 ATAR cut offs? Also, what are my chances?

How about if I also have EAS as well (disadvantaged school)? That would be around 3 extra points, so I pretty much should be getting an offer easily, yes?

Does EAS and HSC Plus bonus points stack?

Thanks everyone, for your input so far! My mind would be totally put to rest if I could have some official sources though :/ Thanks for the link, I checked it out, and it indeed does say a maximum of 10 altogether however has no mention of EAS. So not sure yet.

Does EAS and HSC Plus bonus points stack?

My school is disadvantaged (S01E) so hence I'm applicable for EAS, and I also have 5 subject bonus points. If UNSW allows 5 bonus points for EAS, does this mean I'd receive 10 bonus points altogether? Have an ATAR of 80.15, aiming for B Science which is 84, I'd like to get an idea of my chances.

When does UNSW release their 2015 ATAR cut offs? Also, what are my chances?

My goal is B Science, which for 2014 required an 84. I received an ATAR of 80.15, but also have 5 subject bonus points with me. Do I have a decent chance of getting in? I'm worried if the cut off is going to increase, but the year before that, it was 84 as well.

    Atar Estimates!

What are the raw marks I would need to get an atar of 70-72? Edit: And what about an atar between 78-81?

    Atar estimate pls!

For most of my subjects, how much do I need (raw marks) to secure an Atar of 81?

Transferring to UNSW, does this mean I'll be behind a year?

If I stay at UTS for a year (BSc in IT), and transfer to UNSW Compsci does this mean I start at year #2 of compsci or #1? Provided that the credits aren't transferred, but I already know the topics? UNSW has comp1917 and comp1927 on openlearning, I plan to do them.

How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semester?

Re: How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semest Yeah, that was a mistake, I thought Physics fell under Computer science. What if I choose to do: - MATH1141 Higher Mathematics 1A (6 UOC) - MATH1241 Higher Mathematics 1B (6 UOC) Instead of the lower level...

How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semester?

Re: How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semest Alright, that just scares me lol. Did you study a lot? And are marks scaled like the HSC? Like Physics would scale better than Art electives...

How hard is it to achieve a WAM of 70 in Computer Science during the first semester?

It seems one can transfer from B Science to Computer Science provided they have at least a 65 WAM. My goal would be a 70 WAM. How hard is it to achieve this during the semester 1 exams of the Computer science electives? Does this mean I need to maintain a 70% average across all exams? Edit...

Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

Are you talking about the FEAS? Yeah, I'll definitely will be applying for that, but I'd rather not get my hopes up. Hmm, I'll speak with some of my school's IT teachers to check if they are introductory. If they are, I think I'll probably go take the software electives, perhaps major in them...

Anyone doing Comp Sci (or a similar course) at UTS?

They offer some electives that still appeal to me (including some CS based ones), I don't think it'll be worthwhile for me to transfer. Though UTS may not have as much prestige as the other two I believe I'd be able to make up for it by undertaking some independent projects (create a portfolio...
