Online gaming is just that i dont understand how its better on 360, if someone says the community is better they obsiously have no life cause who gives a flying fuck about making friends online.
Actually, a lot of people care about meeting aussies, then playing games with the same people and taking on other groups of people. More people have headsets. Online functionality is better: you have excellent leaderboards, for instance.

Best of all, you keep your gamertag between games, and can invite friends (online or real life) into your matches.

Also, why are you posting on bos? To discuss matters with likeminded individuals? To socialise online? To express opinions? Sounds a lot like making friends in real life, only online. Irony, much?

Is PS3 online peer to peer or server based?

No such thing as a core now. It's an Arcade.

Arcade = no hard drive, wired controller (i think), regular non-HD AV cables
Pro: Wireless controller, hard drive, component cables, aids. I think it's now available at Big W for $499 with a free game :) Plus I can give you another free game = 20 free games. At least.

I heard the PS3 has better graphics capabilities?
Theoretically, yes. Currently, no. The hardware is very difficult to work with. A lot of developers struggle to port games over to the ps3 (the vast majority of developers start for the 360 version than port to ps3). They are also struggling to make full use of the graphics processor on the ps3.

In a year, who knows. The PS3 could potentially have better graphics for most games.

if you get the right version of the xbox 360 you can pirate games on dvd's.

Also, its a software update so no need to buy expensive modchip. therefore, you won't ever have to buy games again.

ps3 is hard to pirate because bluray copiers are expensive

however you also run the risk of getting banned from xbox live, or bricking your 360.

Just like you can play games online with the same groups of people to match your skills against them, and get to know their strengths/weaknesses, learning to work best as a team against other teams.

It's not like your Xbox Live Friends are actually 'friends' that you would go to picnics with and gallivant around with gaily.

There are benefits of online friends though: wouldn't you call the people from this forum that you talk to constantly, or even girls you talk to on msn that you don't know in person similar to your real life friends? Don't they relieve boredom, give you an opportunity to vent and allow you to be social through a new medium?

I used to think that when I was a newfag. But then they told me that /b/ was not my friend.

My only online friends now come from browser based strategy games. Which if I do say so, I'm superior at.

I wouldnt call people on this forum similar to my friends nor the randoms on my msn list primarly due to the fact that i dont know them on a personal level, in fact i honestly wouldnt care if they were similar as it would be unless information.
