    First Year BABS1201

What it will actually be is 3 hours in the lab and then 1 hour (at the most) somewhere near bioscience discussing things like ethicacy, the validity of scientific references, stuff like that which will become important when you have to write a scientific report.

2nd year fundamental biochem vs advance biochem

True, and from the bit of researching I've done it does actually look interesting. When we did a bit of it in BABS like glycolysis etc.. I did find that pretty cool to learn about.

what exam do we need to do before monday for chemistry

wow thats unusual, perhaps they are using an exam now as an estimate as to whether you should be doing advanced of fundamental chemistry. I didn't have to do any pre requiste exam last year.

What do you love most about Uni?

Amen to that, you'd have to pay me enough money to live the rest of my life in luxury to make me do HSC english again. Other then that- Having a 3 months holidays at the end of each year + days off in the middle of the week. - Unibar. And I'm a med sci student, I...

Never done BIO before. Really struggling in Microbiology and Physiology

Meant to quote the OP, meh. All I did in first year was two more general biology based courses. That tended to touch on a bit of everything biochem, microbiology, genetics etc.... Only have the option to do Phsyiology 1a and 1b and microbiology this year.

    transfer

Sounds very similar to my story. I'm 2nd year med sci, with HD's in first year chem and biology so I'm not overly worried there. But I've never done anything to do with phsyics. I here this really isn't a huge part of the GAMSAT, in chem you cover a decent amount of quantum mechanics; would...

2nd year fundamental biochem vs advance biochem

So I've been told... I'm just following the course manual though, so If I don't do biochem I'm not overly sure what else I could do for a 4th subjects this semester.

UNSW Med Sci 08: ROLL CALL!

Thanks heaps for the advice Rekkusu. Almost certainly then my subjects for this year will look something like... Semester 1: ANAT2241 PHPH2201 MICR2011 Semester 2: PHPH2201 PATH2201 PHPH2011 Which is basically what you suggested. I'd still need to do a 4th subjects each...

    First-year Mathematics courses

Maths for life science is all you'd need to do (probabley more) for a psychology major. However with the marks you got in the HSC I'm sure you could cope with Math1131. I wouldn't worry much about the subject "pulling your mark because more people will do exceptionally well in it" Uni doesn't...

UNSW Med Sci 08: ROLL CALL!

At the moment my mind is really fixed on pharmacology/phsyiology, having not done the actual fundamental courses though there is a chance my mind may be swayed. The other major I would be leaning towards is pathology... This is a direct copy/paste from my course manual: Stage 2 The 48...

Can anyone shed some light on the difficulty level between these two courses? Or are they pretty similar kinda like advanced vs fundamental chem.

Secret to achieving 95+ in pdh???

I got 96 external, 96 internal for pdhpe and a UAI of 96.5 Knowing that syllabus as everyone has mentioned is vital. You need to able to list and expand on all the points under ANY heading with thorough and relevant examples, as it is these heading in the syllabus from which a essay style...

    Physiology 1A, 6 or 7 contact hours a week?

Healthy vs infectious tissue sounds interesting. Oddly enough it was actually my chiropractor who said to steer away from histology and embryology as they both bored the hell out of her in uni and thus her WAM suffered from them. =

    A few enquiries...about Med

WARNING- I'm a med sci student not medicine. But never the less here are my thoughts and opinions. Public vs private school priority is absolute nonesense, that I would imagine has evolved from the fact that the huge majority of students who do make it into med come from JR etc.. For the...
