"You are putting your ethical stance before the law".

I agree, good on the journalist for sticking to their professional ethics. It is extremely unethical to reveal a confidential source. All of this stuff is what we debate at uni all the time so I sometimes get over arguing about it, but yeah journalists have a code of professional ethics...

Arts students - what are you doing?

Yeah I did two subjects called "contemporary cultures 1" and "contemporary cultures 2" in first year. I found them interesting in some ways, but be prepared for the airy fairyness- cultural studies is very airy fairy with no concrete answers and most things revolve around the "so what do you...

    2005 UTS INFO DAY - 27th August

Oh I might come along, I forgot about this. I might come on my way to the radio studios which I will be living in this Saturday to finish an audio essay by next week..... Oh cool, I can get free food like last year.... free lunch to help with the audio essay making!

    journalism and law :)

I wouldn't say going in to a BA Comm degree is foolish though. I've gotten a lot out of my degree, and if I don't find a journalism job when I graduate I will study something else after (looking like a law degree at this stage)- heaps of UTS journalism students get jobs in the industry so I...

    Should I do law now?

Yeah they had ones like "Masters in International Law" which you didn't need a law degree to do. http://info.anu.edu.au/StudyAt/_law/Postgraduate/Programs/_7310XMINTL.asp Hmm this is all food for thought. At least I have a while to mull over it all.

    Should I do law now?

Hmm yeah it's just that three years seems like such a long time for something that isn't my complete focus. Out of curiosity, can you only study law subjects in your electives in a graduate law degree, or can you study other units from arts or business? I am assuming it is only law subjects...

    Should I do law now?

Yeah that is what I am after LOL. I was looking at ANU's website and they had some interesting masters combos. I didn't realize you could study postgrad law stuff without having to do a full law degree. I think now I will probably do something like a 1 year postgrad law course or something...

Be sure to run for the hills in 2008

Yeah I know it's great to get tourists yadda yadda.... BUT the church is more than wealthy enough to pay for most of this themselves, our state govt shouldn't be forking out tons of money for them, they should sit back and enjoy the ride.... Like obviously some costs are inevitable (e.g. more...

    Kukui nut necklaces

I bought some, I got a brown one and black one from ebay for $30 including the postage and I thought that was pretty reasonable... I really like them, they are boho funky. Fun to wear.... I really wanted a pink set but always got outbidded, but I really like the brown one anyway.

Be sure to run for the hills in 2008

Oh God... like literally oh God... why are you doing this to us! Does anyone else have an issue with government funding being used for this like it said in the first article... surely the church is rich enough to pay for their own propaganda fest.

    Should I do law now?

Hmm yeah it's just that three years is a long time to do something that is merely to satiate personal interest rather than a true passion or career goal..... If I did something like the masters of legal studies, and then decided I loved law and wanted to devote my life to it, would it knock a...

    Should I do law now?

I was looking on the ANU website, and they had a "Master of Legal Studies" postgrad thing for people that had done a degree in another discipline... it was only 1 year... something like that doesn't qualify you to be a lawyer does it? Do you need to have an honours degree to do a masters?

    Should I do law now?

Right... I am now more than halfway through my journalism degree and I love it and I want to be a journalist, at least as one of my proper jobs I will have in my lifetime and I am trying to build up my portfolio to have a decent shot at a graduate job in the media. But I have this unsatiated...

    AustLII on Firefox

I love Austlii and i'm not even a law student.... it is so useful for finding things out that you have always wondered about when it comes to the law... It was also really helpful for my media law subject last semester.

How many jobs have you had?

Had 7, hopefully about to start my eighth.... I'm a job whore, when I get bored of a job I just find a new one, I've never been sacked lol... or if I wanna go home for a while I just quit.... when I find a dream job I will settle now, but being a job whore is fun because you get to experience...

    Whos Never Had A Job?

I hadn't had a job at all when I did the HSC, but my parents own a restaurant so I always knew I could work there so it didn't really worry me. You should put in the applications for Christmas casual now so that you can start work after the HSC. And yeah, don't be too fussy for your first...

    journalism and law :)

Media cadetships are just the top of the iceburg for people graduating from a comm degree.... that's what most people are after, but most people graduating law are after certain jobs at certain companies etc.... the cadetships are the ideal, but there are heaps of other ways to get in to...

Postmodern education vs the good old three Rs

One of the problems I had at primary school was that a lot of kids took a long time to understand the basics, so the teachers had to focus on them and those of us who were more advanced would just get to play on the computer or colour in when we had finished our work. I then got put in an...
