    band 6 hope gone

well tonight I realise my hope for a band 6 is gone. the teaching program at school for module b centred around directorial readings of king lear... as well as close textual analysis of the play itself, rather than focusing on our PERSONAL interpretation. in all our assessments, trial...

    context for BNW/BR

there's a lot more to discussion. i can say, at least for BNW and BR: you should talk about the portrayal humanity's relationship with the natural world, as well as social values portrayed and how these link back to the context of the composer. i wouldn't recommend unnecessarily waffling on...

    Itw Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember to not take 'In the wild' literally - in the wild may refer to a society that has been stripped bare of the social protocols and orders that define it as a civilisation and keep it protected from elements that may undermine its integrity. hence, it is in a 'metaphoric' wild.. as it is...

    context for BNW/BR

I integrate a whole chunk of each composer's social context that influenced their perspectives portrayed in their texts, in the first paragraph of each respective text. Then when I analyse language etc and talk about humanity's relationship with the natural world, I also mention how the...

    I am confused

I'm definitely calling up hsc advice line for the 234824546th time to clarify all this crap. i guess ill take out the focus of the readings from my topic sentences and closing sentences... make sure my analysis of the king lear quotes then goes on to say what it revealed to ME. Then will refer...

    I am confused

I'm now officially screwed for this module - most of the teaching program of this module concentrated on two productions of King Lear by other directors. We did obviously read the shakespeare text and analysed it. But this thing about "personal reading" wasn't highly emphasised. If anyone is...

    I am confused

but then what the heck is this dot point in the rubric for: Evaluate the text's reception in a range of contexts. if that doesn't mean how the text has been interpreted by different readings which are based in different social contexts.. then IM SCREWED.

    I am confused

Well I'm royally screwed (lol @ the pun) ... the hsc advice line says that the readings aren't really important. my KL responses throughout the year have focused around TWO readings... thats how our teacher taught us. far out.. i never really included personal interpretation. here's a...

Modules Adv... memorising essays, winging or in between?

lol well im not memorisng word for word.. but ive memorised which langauge techniques/effect go with a particular quote. and then i still have a set structure. you guys are all including this in each body paragraph, right (other than topic sentence): -context -quote/reference -language and...

    How many pages for Modules

no matter how many pages u write... if u address the question and the criteria of the syllabus on that module.. then ur flying.

Do you use prepared English essays?

nah i don't really memorise my essays. i just have a set, particular structure in my head with quotes/lang. that i use for each module. in the exam i tweak it a little to address the question ppl who memorise essays and then in the exam get a totally different text such as interview etc...

    How many pages for Modules

i hope to get 8 done for each module. except mod C.. that will no-matter-what end up being a rushed job. i stress the *hope* bit. LOL

Frontline - Which episodes are you doing?

it'll be highly unlikely that they name specific episodes. i haven't really focused on the episodes "smaller fish to fry" and "this night of nights".. just don't really like them and don't feel they are powerful for responses. I tend to use in my Mod C responses: Add Sex and Stir, The Siege...

    I am confused

LOL @ danoz direct. gosh i reckon this module is screwed all together. there are so many different opinions. my teacher keeps driving the message thru that readings are central to this module.. as the syllabus requires you explore how shakespeare's text has endured the ages yadda yadda... and...

    I am confused

wtf... most of my module b has revolved around the readings? man the syllabus talks about shakespear's enduring text... its reception in a range of contexts... that is where the readings fit in. gosh, if they say theyre shifting away from readings, ima go hunt BOS exam question writers myself.

    Poll : Raw Marks

lol yes very true. but in the trials i pulled off 89/105, which would be a band 6. im obviously hoping for more than 15/20 average for each module response.... who knows could maul a question and get like 18 or 19. only time will tell. in the end.. if i get a band 6 ill be ecstatic. a band...

    Poll : Raw Marks

section 1: 11-12 section 2: 12-13 section 3: 14 so hoping for like 35-37 all up. Then will need like 45/60 in modules to get me that potential band 6.

Was it ok if u disagreed with section 3's statement?

lol of course. you could take either a disagree or agree stance... and still score 15/15 if you susbstantiated your arguments with valid and detailed reference to the text, language features... integrated it into a sophisticated response etc etc. and adressed the question directly.

How many booklets did you use?

don't get me wrong.. im sure many of those lengthy responses are 15/15. but what im saying is that writing a long response doesnt guarantee u good marks. and in saying that... even a 6 page response could score 14-15 if it was good and fulfilled all criteria of a 14-15/15 response.
