    Past trial essay questions?

The essay question I got in this year's trial (Independent Trial Papers) was: The impact of a physical journey is rarely confined simply to the physical effects of this journey on individuals. Evaluate this statement in relation to the representation of physical journeys in the texts you...

The acetylene burner basically 'gasifies' the cation solution... so that gaseous ions are present for analysis. The high temperature it provides literally boils the water out, and then 'boils' the ionic solid... forming gaseous ions. It is the cathode lamp that emits light of a certain...

    aas

from what I know, AAS can detect traces as low as parts per billion (ppb), hence it is very accurate and sensitive in determining concentrations of trace elements. I think that AAS can only test for the presence of cations... due to the cathode lamps that are used... and the fact that the...

    writing a debate - HELP

that's from the 2008 independent english adv trial right? I had that question in my trial. for a debate, firstly you must use emotive language, with heightened tone. in terms of structure, there is no really cemented structure for a debate, if you are only taking one stance (affirmative or...

Re: Tips for 2008 HSc students from 2007 student Nice tips. Thanks :) How many hours of study did you do per day during the 2 week holidays before HSC? Was your study method mainly past papers and revising syllabus content?

    Only one making NOtes STILL?

either do i. notes usually just summarise content and get only the 'gist' of what you need to know.. its better to know your content inside out by reading supplementary/secondary texts such as textbooks etc thoroughly in order to refine very small details. in my opinion, having very refined and...

    subsidies

Well, effectively, a subsidy increases the supply of a domestic-produced good by a domestic producer.. since businesses can produce more with the financial assistance provided by the government. An increase in the supply decreases demand, which ultimately causes a contraction in price levels.

    Question on a technique.

Perhaps a cipher/subliminal message/hidden message or something along those lines.. That is pretty savvy analysis though ;) .. however... in an exam, I don't think that it is very powerful to use as a single analysis. You could briefly refer to that kind of analysis if you had time...

    Chemistry Question HSC 2007

But wouldn't the Pb(s) waste away since it is the reductant and is oxidised... hence will form PbSO4(s).. and so wouldn't you have to also replace the Lead anodes?

    Rambo situation

I guess you're talking about "The Siege", an episode of "Frontline", where Mike Moore refers to the hostage situation as a 'rambo situation', falsely imbuing sensationalism and hostility into a situation, in order to gain audience ratings etc etc.

    Monetary Policy

When the Reserve Bank wishes to tighten monetary policy, it will sell government securities to financial institutions, in order to reduce the amount of liquid funds in the exchange settlement accounts of banks/financial institutions. Since there is a reduced supply of funds available for banks...

Top raw marks for HSC courses

I'm saying that perhaps the Board of Studies compensates for student's not doing as well as expected in the HSC exam due to exam stress etc etc, or a hard paper was set... therefore they align marks accordingly to the difficulty of the paper. Before a week ago, I didn't even know that the...

    Band 6 marks

The 15/84 is a RAW mark that is awarded by the HSC Markers, marking your MX1 hsc exam paper. That 15/84 is then 'aligned' to 25/50, a pass. But then again, all people have aligned marks greater than or equal to 50%, thats how the scale works. If your cohort did well, and there was a larger...

studying 8-10 hrs a day during STUVAC

more than 6-7 hours is definitely difficult and draining.. but its feasible if you start your study like at 9 or 10am... then have like at least 4 blocks of 2hours with intermittent breaks. 8-10 hours is definitely feasible.

    Band 6 marks

Aligned - 50 is the lowest HSC mark. I even saw it on my brother's HSC results analysis... there was a graph given which showed that the lowest mark was 50. The above poster is correct, as long as you fulfill the requirements of the course, i.e. complete all assessment tasks, attend all exams...
