Top raw marks for HSC courses

Yeah, my chem teacher always says... you're a different person in the HSC Exam - the amount of silly mistakes you can make is unbelievable, due to nervousness. I guess that might be a reason why HSC marks are aligned by board of studies, helping students do well.

    Band 6 marks

I had a look at my brother's HSC results (from 2003), and the actual lowest HSC Mark is 50... there is a scale they give which shows the percentage of the cohort achieving a certain mark. There was a very high skew towards band 5s, I'm guessing due to the aligning process. Once I found out...

    Memorising Notes

I would try to understand and link concepts - rather than 'memorising'.

    Band 6 marks

All raw exam marks and moderated assessment marks are aligned - experienced teacher judges decide what kind of raw exam mark given by the HSC Markers deserves to be in a Band 6 Category. 82/105, for example in 2004, would get you a band 6 in English Adv. 58-62/84, in 2004, would get you an E4...

where does ADH and aldosterone act

My bio teacher taught us that ADH acts in the proximal tubule and collecting ducts, and Aldosterone in the distal tubule.... ughhh confusions. will call the advice line once its open to clarify all this.

    Question About Critical Study

I wrote that I think.. well yeah I use that for my King Lear responses... and pulled a 19/20 for my Module B Assessment In class essay, and 18.5/20 in my trial for module b response. So I guess it works..

What study did you do today?

Spent minimum 6 hours studying Economics today with a friend.. we revised many many chapters... did heaps of multiple choice questions, short answer practice. It was really good actually.

    Mathematical Induction

I usually break it up into 4 steps. Remember, Tn is on the LEFT side of the EQUAL sign.. and Sn is to the right of the equal sign. This would be how I'd do an induction 'for all positive integers n' Step 1 Show true for n = 1 Sub in n=1 into both Tn and Sn, they should be equal Hence...

A word of inspiration for 2U students who aren't doing so well

95% of my errors in exams are silly errors (either i've subbed in wrong value, put a plus instead of minus, forget to make two minuses a plus... or use the wrong formula LOL). If i can really improve on not making these stupid mistakes in the HSC exam, then I **should** lol stress SHOULD, be...

    Timing in the exam

Nah, they're 20 each. I wish they were weighted more than others.. I wish Module A was like 30-35 marks at least.

King Lear Help A.s.a.p On Context And Essay Structure

Correct me if I'm wrong...but doesn't this module require a close study of the text IN ADDITION to study of at least two modern readings/adaptations, which you MUST refer to in your answer, regardless of the question. If you don't refer to the readings in your answer, you will get a really low mark.

    Timing in the exam

yeah, i definitely agree. i've got to make sure my paragraphs aren't too long... make sure I'm succinct in answering the question... so I can fit each module into exactly 40 minute time slots.

    Timing in the exam

Remember... those 2.5 pages equal 5 hsc writing booklet pages, since my school's writing booklets are such that 2 lines can fit in one line in the hsc writing booklet (i.e. double writing space in 1 page).

E4s In Ext 1 and Ext 2 maths

I sure hope so.. if I can pull off the exam marks that I did in the trials, in the HSc, after aligning of raw exam marks I would definitely not have a problem with my UAI... but achieving high in the HSC exams is another ball game.

Simpson's Rule / Trapezoidal Rule Issues.

Nah, you're working is perfect... just in general.. I experienced some problems with Simspon's Rule because of what I stated in my above post (about labelling of function values).

Simpson's Rule / Trapezoidal Rule Issues.

A common problem I used to have with Simpson's rule.. is that I used to assign the following to each function value: x0, x1, x2, x3 and so on... so that I could easily determine which is even or odd etc. But then, if you use that kind of 'labelling' of function values, you have to change the...

E4s In Ext 1 and Ext 2 maths

I pulled off 77% for a combined Independent/Western Region trial paper... but im expecting to get only around 55-60/84(max) in the HSC. Trust me, in the HSC exam, you'll be a different person...
