    uai question

Unortunately this is not the case. It is possible to have equal ranking. The BOS only takes whole numbers for assessment marks from teachers. In equally ranked cases, e.g. Person A and B are ranked first in a subject, the moderated assessment mark will be the average of the 2 highest external...

    Hons at BABS 09

I did Honours in BABS last year (2007) and personally I thought the school actually supports you quite well throughout the year. It is an intense year of scientific training and it literally pushes you to the edge and while you're doing it you feel like it's not worth it, but at the end of it...

bachelor of medical science/bachelor of forensic biotechnolgy

Now how do I summarise a four year degree in one post?! :D Personally, I've learned that you need a lot of committment to make it through. There were days when I thought I should just give up, especially in third year when there were so many lectures/contents to learn for the final exams...

    B & T cells-interaction, mechanisms

Interleukins are secreted by all kinds of cells, not just Helper T cells and macrophages. e.g. neutrophils also secrete interluekins, so do cytotoxic T cells (CD8 T cells), intestinal epithalial cells etc.

    Important Question regardin moderation

Yes it is still possible to achieve 80s in your final HSC marks. It will heavily depends on how well your cohort performs as a whole in each of your subject. In addition, it will depends on how you perform in the HSC exam - do you believe you can score 90+ in all of your subjects given you did...

bachelor of medical science/bachelor of forensic biotechnolgy

You will definitely need to study chemistry in first year and possibly in subsequent years depending on the flexibility of the program at CSU. First year Chemistry has at least HSC chemistry as assumed knowledge. Non-Advanced version of the subject may have Year 11 as assumed knowledge. In...

    Topping the state

Only if these two units of study is two of the best units. And no, topping doesn't mean you will be awarded with a scaled mark of 100/100 for those two units.

    Internal Mark Question

It's almost impossible for me to say because your internal mark will be influenced by how well your cohort performs. The worse your cohort performs the lower your internal mark, which means the better you need to perform externally to acheive a your desire mark.

What would happen if there is a large gap between top 3 and the rest of the class

Don't lose hope! It is still very satisfying to perform well in the external exam regardless of your internal mark. I know the HSC is everything to you at the moment but believe me there is so much more to do and achieve after high school and the HSC is just a small part in your life that will...

    Internal Mark Question

Yes, provided you do extremely well in the external exam and your cohort, as a whole, also do well. It will mean the final gap in the moderated assessment marks between the top 10 and the non-Top 10 group will be relatively large if the external marks also reflect the same story.

What would happen if there is a large gap between top 3 and the rest of the class

You would get 90 as your external mark, and roughly the 17th best external mark as your moderated assessment mark, whatever that may be acheived by your cohort. The average of the two forms the final HSC mark. It is actually quite fair. Students can't just happen to perform well in one final...

    converting GPA

I'm good also. I'm having an annual PhD progress review in the next few week looking at what we have done (or haven't done) during the first 9 months of our PhD. This involves giving a presentation to the school (*sighs*) and write a 5 page report. argh. I guess this whole process helps keep us...

    Mark moderation

Yes it is entirely possible! Yes! Also entirely possible. Yes the 1st person will ALWAYS get the top external mark as his/her moderated assessment mark, meaning this person will receive his "bad" external exam mark (in your case, 85), and a "good" moderated assessment mark (95 - if 95 is...

    HSC marks and Examination marks

No. The external HSC marks achieved by students cannot change the internal ranking achieved by a student in a school over the entire HSC year. When students achieve equal first, the moderated assessment mark will be the same for both individuals (and I've seen that happened before). I know it...

    HSC marks and Examination marks

Re: 回复: Re: 回复: HSC marks and Examination marks friction, please refer to this thread for more information about moderating and a document published by the BOS explaining the entire process and see whether "special consideration" applies in yor case...

    HSC marks and Examination marks

Yes there can be a decimal that seperates equal first or second etc. but when teachers report the internal marks to BOS they must be a whole number (I think BOS don't take into account decimals anyway even when they are reported). If there is a tie for second and roughly the 2nd and 3rd best...
  19. Survivor39

    Possibility?

That will entirely depends on how well your cohort performs in the HSC, especially between the top 5 positions. For example, if your cohort did very well and the top 5 external marks ranges from 91 (highest, one of this) to 90 (4 of this), then it is likely that 2nd-5th ranked students will all...

What would happen if there is a large gap between top 3 and the rest of the class

    Roughly calculating: A = average of 75 and 95 = 85 B = average of 82 and ~88 =~85 C = average of 88 and ~82 = ~85 D = average of 95 and ~81= ~88 E = average of 81 and 75 = 78 B, C and D may all have a slightly different moderated assessment mark (a indicated by the "~" sign). This...
