Cant find any course advice for the first few weeks

Why didn't you try earlier?,now is the busiest time and isn't it getting a bit late for your application. Have you checked the website of the uni for basic NRSL info...it depends though on the course etc as they all have different application procedures. Generally most people don't get to speak...

what a bunch of rude pricks!!!

Look they probably weren't all that nice and they should have tried to be at least polite but you have to remember they have to deal frequently with the same questions etc most of which can be looked up online or found out on open days etc.. its the end of the road for uni selections and they...

    which uni is 'best'?

Exactly, the main problem I found with UWS was the students, not the teaching quality or course content. (In fact UWS's Criminal Law and Intro to law courses are better than what I have seen at Mac). There are a heap of apathetic students at UWS who make it hard for others to learn or to be...

    Graduate Law?

It dependson how much going to USYD/UNSW matters to you, how keen u are on law and how long you want to be at uni. I'm assuming the Arts course is 3 (if not f4 years as it is has honours) then if you take grad law thats another 3 years. Combined programs mean u get 2 degrees in 5 years, if you...

B Arts/ B Law graduate twice or at the end?

Heya guys, Does anyone know how graduation works for double degree students? The reason I ask is my friends at UWS tell me they have the choice of graduating twice (i.e. for the Arts after 3rd year and Law after 5th year) or once at the end. What is the deal with MQ? Thanks people :)

    cutoff for law

I would put it down (because you never know, people may be let in if they are just under or the cutoff might drop) and then have your fall backs such as UWS law or MQ B Bus Admin and then transfer.

    Can I still get in?

Also I can't remember from when I applied but doesn't UWS have some kind of non-award program?

    Corporate Lawyer

I'd chose the degree and major that interests you most and reflects your abilities. Remember those degrees and units of study will be what you have to put up with for the next 5 years! No one will want to hire someone who has done com/law but done really badly because of lack of interest or...

General Questions From Curious Students Starting Uni in 2008

I'll only add stuff that people haven't mentioned as Jennifer has done a great job. 2. I've heard ppl say that there is A LOT of reading involved in studying law...but how much is A LOT exactly..like how many pages and stuff?...also what do you read..textbooks, legislation? Do you read much...

How to get one more mark for uni result

Most people have been one mark off the next grade, I have had an assignment 0.25 off a D, they wont change it unless you have some special reason, but I doubt it.

    General Law Questions.

    1. Will the fact that i havn't done legal studies hurt me in anyway in the law degree? No you cover off what people do in the first few weeks of your introductory subjects. 2. Is Macquarie a good university for law? As far as I have seen its pretty good that said I can only compare between...

    law at mac???

What you have done in legal studies will be covered in the first half of your introductory law subject (no jurisprudence but the other one). Reading for law is generally quite a bit but differs from subject to subject but uou will often have reading from a textbook and then either case readings...

    Cut off question

I would leave it in your preference and have a back up. I know UWS sometimes takes ppl just under because they want to maintain cutoffs but a few spaces.

NRSL for law @ newie, western syd or mq?

I dont think anyone actually knows the NRSL for any of them but I know for Mac I had a GPA of 5.125 and a UAI of 94 and I successfully transfered from UWS.

I got 30 or below UAI.

That may be true but in the end if you pick science because it scales well and do crap in it scaling wont help you. I know far too many ppl who repeated year 11 because they picked good scaling subjects. Do what you enjoy and are good at, that the best advice I can give and people really should...

I got 30 or below UAI.

There is always the diploma in law run by the LPAB. http://www.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/lawlink/lpab/ll_lpab.nsf/pages/lpab_prospective_students_page Its equivalent to the LLB and I know ppl who transfered into UWS law after a year of doing it. Its requirements for entry are much more flexible...
