    Fees?

It's in the university's interest for students to pay the fees. I think it's disgusting that we're going to be asked to pay $540 on demand - money that not only takes a big hit out of our budgets, but that we also have no hope of seeing again. When my business is at a low point, $540 can...

    Fees?

If you're pissed off about the rule, then join the Independent Students' Association. We're going to be fighting those responsible for this, and we need as many hands on deck as possible.

Performing My Own Composition for HSC music

There's no rule against it, and if it's a good performance piece there shouldn't be any problems. (former BMus(Comp.) here)

Conservatoriums - GENERAL: Entry, atmosphere, auditions etc.

You can submit more than three. My recommendation though is to submit three compositions of contrasting styles (jazz being just one) - because none of the audition panel are actually jazz musicians.

Performing My Own Composition for HSC music

For my HSC performance, I did a piece entitled "Improvisation", and almost gave my teacher a heart attack when he found out what I had planned. I got 82/42 for Music 2 and Extension, but then I got into the BMus(Comp.), so yaay for me.

    Laptops for Uni

Don't underestimate the value of a lighter laptop. If I were you, I'd sacrifice computer power for a lighter laptop. Your back will thank you. An option I'm looking forward to over the next year is Tablet PCs, which allow you to write on the screen, with the data automatically turned into...

    BABMusStudies - GOVT major

Okay, so this is what I need, as far as people I've talked to can tell: 72 senior credit points from table A, including the Arts Music major (36) + 2 arts majors from either table A or B to a total of 126 Arts credit points (not counting my minimum 114 Con credit points) SO, this is what...

Do you think the people who paid for your sports scholarship and your trips to unigames got their money's worth? What you get: a sports scholarship and trips to unigames. What your classmates get: you

    union fees

It's not so much the idea that we're all contributing to a collective benefit, but more the fact that said "collective benefit" doesn't benefit students in the slightest.

    union fees

The website I linked to earlier, ourbloodysrc.com, goes through some of the thigns that at least USYD's SRC (and many others) have been involved in. It's not comprehensive yet, but it will be by O-week.

    BABMusStudies - GOVT major

Well, we're all confused about that, which is why it's still tentative. From what I can tell, I need to complete three Majors - one Con major (Composition), the Arts Music major (Arts) and a third Arts major. Arts Music is table A, so I assume that the third major could come from table B. At...

    union fees

If you want a "top" uni (USYD, UNSW and other prestigious unis), it can be considerable (up to $600). Do you really think you'll get $600 value out of your extra-curricular uni activities?

Conservatoriums - GENERAL: Entry, atmosphere, auditions etc.

Technically, a student is required to have "a" UAI. This is to indicate that yes, you've done the HSC. And that's about all. I strongly doubt UAI has any Real value in the applications process.

I've already stuffed one arts major. I don't really feel like stuffing up another.

Courses to do for music based occupation

SCM offers a number of Graduate courses in Sound Production. It's generally desired that music managers have at least some background in music, which is why most tertiary-level music management courses are either at Graduate level, or offered by private colleges for far more than they're worth...
